He was born in Colombia, Barranquilla, the birthplace of many international artists including Shakira, J Balvin and Miss Universo 2015.
Like Shakira, Hammer studied at Dunwoody High School where they together took part in several charity events by Telethon.
His passion for music and dance brought Hammer to travel Europe where he became the undisputed forerunner in latin dance, salsa, and hip hop, collecting multiple music successes.
He started his musical career in a band called Amarillys, with the song “El Boogaloo” produced by RMW and Verba Manent record company, written in collaboration with a famous Italian lyricist by the name ofVincenzo Incenzo.
“El Boogaloo” is a dance that is affected by the contamination of the salsa from the boogie. Seen as an “impure” music form, it was born in the 60s to make the people dance in all districts, regardless of race and class. This song was a success nonetheless, so much so as to earn 10th place in popularity charts on radio stations of Latin music, including Radio Mambo.
In 2009, Hammer animated the Roman summer evenings performing his summer hits “Hip Cumbia” and “Repella” in a famous latin club, Fiesta.“Hip Cumbia” bleeds with cheerful and colorful sound, where cumbia, which is the typical genre of Colombian folklore, blends with the most modern hip hop. “Repella”, instead, is an enjoyable salsaton, mixing three kinds of music: salsa, cumbia and reggaeton.
In December of 2013, Hammer took part in the 16th edition of “Michelangelo’s David Award to Choreography and Artistic Talent” at Tendastrisce theater in Rome, where he was awarded by F.I.D. (Italian Federation Dance) with a plaque in honor of his artistic talent.
In the summer 2015, Hammer launched a new single, “Timido,” a romantic, autobiographical reggaeton. In short, the author (Hammer) speaks of a boy who was seemingly plagued in love due to his shyness, but upon meeting the girl of his wildest dreams, changes to be able to conquer her heart. The single was presented in the “White Club” in the heart of Rome, on April 2015. In the audience were important guests including a famous Colombian director, Jheison Garcia, and the well-known VIP photographer Simone Presta.
“Timido” quickly became a summer hit of 2015! In fact, it was broadcasted daily on Radio Mambo, a radio station of Latin music; numerous articles were written about this new hit in magazines like “Vip MESE” num. 31, 32 and 33, “Tutto di Tutti” num. 64, and “Vida latina Magazine” March/April 2015. Gianni Ippoliti, a famous journalist, even gloated about its success on an Italian TV program on Rai 1 channel.
Hammer is not just a complete artist that ranges from the composition of songs to the creation of exciting choreography. Since childhood, Hammer showed interest in social issues by writing songs for peace and against racism, exposing his golden heart.
He is currently active in the campaign against women violence. In November of 2014, he organized a charity event in the beautiful setting of the “Caraibe” of Rome, bringing together the best Zumba dancers of the capital to donate money to “Differenza Donna,” an association that welcomes 12,500 women with their children every year. In March of 2015, he participated in another Zumba event in support of the “SOS WOMEN VIOLENCE” association. A year later in March of 2016, he took part in an event organized by Trimas Zumba Dance at the “Salsedine” of Fiumicino as a special guest to help “Differenza Donna” once again in funding sports projects for women and children living in the refuge.
In May of 2016, Hammer was interviewed along with Big Miami on Radio Mambo 106.9 during “Sentir Latino” show by speakers including DJ Enzo el Chamo, Luis Flores, Catherine Maldonado and Marco Macario commemorating the launch of his new single “El pega pega.”
Again in May 2016, Hammer took part in the most important Salsa convention in Italy, Eventopeople Festival 2016, in Scalea (CS) with the special participation of Beto Perez, Zumba fitness creator. During the event, Hammer performed with Big Miami “El Pega Pega”, the newest summer hit of 2016 year.
