Who is Elijah Jamal? If you asked Elijah, he would tell you that everything you need to know is in his music, as most of which is written by him and inspired by his life experiences. “Elijah Jamal has a special gift to entertain amuse and inspire an audience.  You feel like you know him and that he knows you”- Great Music Reviews.

Being the youngest of a musical family that is filled with talent, Elijah grew fond of singing background and developing harmonies with the family. As A Chicago Native, Elijah comes from the line of International singer/actress and legend, Abbey Lincoln (his Great Aunt), son of national recording artist and author Dr. Aaron Jamal, and Singer/composer/author Dr. Margaret Jamal.  Elijah says “Music is like our second language… it’s what we do every day. Everybody sings.” Elijah majored in music and graduated from Triton College at the age of 18.   He released his own CD as an independent artist on his birthday July 31, 2012, entitled “Music is My Wife.”  He has since hosted his own Internet radio broadcast and podcast called “Music for Life with Elijah.”  In a continuing effort to expand his overall talent, Elijah has shown his acting skills in several plays including:  “Momma Used to Say”, “For Heaven Sakes” “The Wiz” and “Dream Girls”.

“This sultry, singing, songwriter cannot be defined in musical terms” Tisha Bass – Saucy Scribbler. According to Grammy-Award Winner Paul Richmond, “Elijah has a million-dollar voice”. Though Elijah has shown his musical-versatility with styles ranging from Gospel, R&B, and Pop, he has a distinguished sound that is often referred to as an Old-School meets New-School feel. You may hear some of Elijah’s influences in his music with Artists he gives credit to such as Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Take 6, Stevie Wonder, Indie Arie, Donny Hathaway and J Moss, just to name a few. However, Elijah says his biggest influence is his Family as they have been with him every step of the way as his support. Articulate, diversely talented and easy on the eyes, Elijah continues to remain confident but humble that his “God-given” talent is to be shared with the world.

In the midst of one of the worse, notoriously violent communities in Chicago, Elijah Jamal spent his teen years developing his passion and skills as a writer, musician, vocalist and producer in heart of North Lawndale. He was protected by a family that was committed to serving God as well as the community.  Elijah began showing his abilities as a dancer at the age of 6. While intrigued by the influences of Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Take 6,  and being the youngest of a musical family that is filled with talent, Elijah grew fond of singing background and developing harmonies with the family. Elijah comes from the line of International singer/actress and legend, Abbey Lincoln (his Great Aunt), son of national recording artist and author Aaron Jamal, and Singer/composer/author Margaret Jamal.  Elijah says “Music is like our second language… it’s what we do every day. The Elijah Project is..

Deep…Real…Musicianship at its best.

Elijah and Georgio attended a 30KFT event, and it just so happened that night the special guest speaker was Jalen James Acosta. Elijah and Georgio approached Jalen after the event and asked him if he would listen to their music, they begin to work on the possibilities and…The rest is as they say…HISTORY.
